Associate Professor (Human Anatomy) at Amadeus University – Amizi, Abia

Amadeus University is recruiting an Associate Professor of Human Anatomy in Amizi, Abia State, to contribute experienced academic leadership, specialist teaching and research development within its College of Medicine.

Teaching and assessment

• Teach Human Anatomy to MBBS, BDS and allied health science students through lectures, tutorials and practical demonstrations.
• Prepare course notes, slides and laboratory guides in line with NUC and MDCN minimum standards.
• Set, invigilate and mark continuous assessments and examinations, and submit results within university timelines.
• Take part in OSPE, OSCE and MBBS professional examinations.

Research and laboratory work

• Organise laboratory classes, maintain safe equipment and reagent-handling practices, and enforce standard operating procedures.
• Engage in research and departmental scholarly activities, including seminars, journal clubs and research meetings.
• Work towards at least one peer-reviewed publication during the probationary period.
• Provide research direction and postgraduate supervision, supporting scholarly collaboration and grant development.

Academic service and professional development

• Maintain attendance, practical and assessment records and undertake course advisory or assistant examination duties when assigned.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and college meetings, accreditation and quality assurance.
• Attend conferences, workshops and faculty development programmes, and comply with academic ethics and the MDCN professional code.
• Register for a PhD within one year of appointment if not already qualified or enrolled, where applicable.

Requirements and competencies

• A PhD in a relevant discipline from a recognised university.
• At least 9 years’ post-qualification university teaching and research experience.
• Strong, verifiable publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and books.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, conduct and supervise research and exercise academic and institutional leadership.
• Membership or registration with relevant professional bodies.
• Successful supervision of postgraduate students to completion is an advantage.
• Skills in postgraduate mentorship, curriculum development, quality assurance, grant writing and research funding.

Remuneration

Salary follows the CONMESS structure applicable to the academic rank.
