About the role

The Backend Developer will build and maintain software services that power digital payments and financial transactions. Work covers secure service integrations, maintainable APIs and reliable backend components.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services, APIs and related integrations used in payments.
• Work on service components for payment switching, transaction processing, wallets and related financial features.
• Build and improve microservices, database interactions and messaging integrations.
• Test, troubleshoot, optimise and maintain application performance, security and reliability.
• Collaborate with other developers, product colleagues and operations teams throughout software delivery.
• Maintain documentation and support deployment and ongoing improvement of existing systems.

Qualifications and requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related subject.
• Three to five years of experience in backend software development.
• Experience with backend languages or runtimes such as C#, Java, Node.js or Python.
• Practical knowledge of APIs, microservices and databases; familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, Redis or Azure Service Bus is relevant.
• Ability to write maintainable code, perform automated testing and diagnose production issues.
