Compliance Officer at an Undisclosed Company (via Lightread Consulting) – Maryland

Lightread Consulting is recruiting a full-time, on-site Compliance Officer in Maryland, Lagos. The role supports regulatory compliance, internal controls and ethical business practices in a technology-driven organisation. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Compliance responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor internal compliance procedures and policies.
• Review activities against applicable laws, regulations and industry standards.
• Conduct compliance checks, internal audits and risk reviews.
• Identify possible compliance weaknesses and recommend remedial action.
• Track changes in regulatory requirements and brief management.
• Maintain reliable compliance records and investigate suspected breaches.
• Prepare reports, communicate findings and deliver guidance or training to employees.
• Collaborate across departments to strengthen compliance culture.
• Monitor technology-related compliance, including data protection, information security and digital operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Proven compliance experience in a technology-led business, such as fintech, software or another digital operation.
• Experience in compliance, auditing, legal affairs or risk management.
• Understanding of data protection and regulatory requirements affecting technology businesses.
• Strong analysis, problem solving, confidentiality and written reporting.
• Good interpersonal skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
