Head of Stabilization

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Head of Stabilization will lead a team of national and international staff responsible for the programmatic development and implementation of the UNDP Regional Stabilization Facility in Nigeria.
  • The Head of Stabilization will report to the UNDP Nigeria Resident Representative and collaborate closely with the Head of the Sub Office, Deputy Resident Representative (Operations), the Operations Manager and other stakeholders relevant to the implementation and attainment of the objectives of the UNDP Stabilization Facility.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, or other relevant fields

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in program management at international level;
  • At least 5 years of senior managerial experience in managing large projects, preferably in UN agency;
  • Experience/expertise in stabilization is an advantage
  • Proven experience in Resource Mobilization;
  • Proven track record in high level advisory services to Government counterparts for post conflict situations and programs;
  • Sound knowledge of UNDP or other UN agency is required;
  • Leadership and policy advisory skills;
  • Task management skills to plan and prioritize work activities to meet organizational goals and organizes and oversees work processes efficiently to achieve quality results;
  • Knowledge of Results Based Management methodologies would be an asset.

Data Coordinator

Job Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Purpose

  • The growth of violent extremism and instability does not only have a devastating impact on communities in different types of the country, it also sets in motion a dramatic reversal of development gains already made as well as a reversal of prospects of development for decades to come.
  • Continuous monitoring and data collection on the evolution of root causes at the most local level is crucial to inform early warning, adjust interventions to maximize preventive effects and initiate new thematic approaches. UNDP Nigeria will establish a Knowledge Hub, that primarily collects data and analysis to inform the interventions esp. in the area of PVE, conflict prevention and human security.

Education:

  • Advanced University Degree (Masters’ or equivalent) in Economics, Econometrics, Data Visualization, Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences or Monitoring and Evaluation, or other closely related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in data analysis, data visualization, econometric analysis and research (primary and secondary) in a development context.
  • Practical experience in initiating and coordinating collection of primary data, analysis and reporting of primary data for evidence-based program development.
  • Experience commissioning of projects, ability to collaborate and coordinate with highly technical specialists in the field of quantitative methodologies, data collection, databases and visualization.
  • Proven record of quantitative analytical skills with big datasets and building econometric and statistical models.
  • Proven data analysis skills and working with different types of data (survey data, economic/social data, spatial data).
  • Proven experience in field research from developing robust and sound methodologies for collection of data, overseeing and monitoring implementation of data collection, cleaning, analysis, visualization/presentation of research results.
  • Proficiency in the use of statistical programs such as R, SAS or STATA, including the use of data visualization packages.
  • Proven record of creating (statistic and interactive) and presenting data visualizations and infographics, including the use of software such as Tableu, Chart.js, Adobe (Indesign, Illustrator).
  • Proven record of knowledge of GIS software and spatial data analysis.
  • Outstanding writing, editing and fact-checking skills, as well attention for details.
  • Critical attitude and ability to review/provide comments on knowledge products.
  • Proven political/scientific-ethical sensitivity.

Operations Manager – Stabilization Service Centre (SSC)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Operations Manager will be responsible and contribute directly to the effective and efficient operations of the UNDP Stabilization Facility Service Centre Nigeria.
  • He/she will liaise directly with the relevant staff to ensure coordination of delivery as appropriate.
  • To this extent the Operations Manager will be responsible for the following functions:
    • Oversight of operations of the Facility Service Centre implementation for optimization of delivery;
    • Application of operational policies pertaining to project implementation and management;
    • Effective and accurate financial resource and efficient procurement management;
    • Facilitating strategic human resource management.

Education:

  • Advanced University Degree (Masters or equivalent) in Business Administration, Operations Management, Social Sciences, International Development, Economics or related fields;

Experience:

  • 7 years relevant work experience, at least 5 of which involve similar senior experience of operational management of projects or programmes;
  • 2 years of relevant experience in crisis/post conflict countries;
  • Experience of sustaining high level professional relations with Government officials;
  • Substantive project operational management experience, including detailed working knowledge of human resources, ICT, finance, project management, asset management and logistics;
  • Extensive expertise in procurement is of specific importance
  • A sound track record of experience in an international setting with the UN or with international organisations, or similar context;
  • Experience of the Africa region is an advantage;
  • Good knowledge of UNDP ERP system (Atlas) is desirable;
  • Practical familiarity with UNDP project management principles and practices is essential.
