University Librarian at Federal University of Technology, Owerri – Imo
The Federal University of Technology, Owerri is inviting applications for University Librarian, a principal officer responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for all university library services and strategic development.
Duties
- Direct library administration and coordinate all university library services.
- Plan, maintain and develop library collections, facilities and resources for university teaching and research.
- Lead library service expansion and short-, medium- and long-term operations planning.
Qualifications and requirements
- Honours degree, master’s degree and PhD in Library and Information Science from a recognised university.
- Valid membership of the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) and relevant professional organisations.
- At least 15 years’ post-graduation professional experience in a university or recognised organisation, including five years as Deputy University Librarian or an equivalent university position.
- Knowledge of digital-library platforms and modern library software, budgeting, resource mobilisation, leadership and administration.
- High integrity, innovation, motivation and good physical and mental health.
- Not more than 60 years old at the point of application.
Terms of appointment
- Initial appointment of five years from assumption of duty, potentially extendable for one year subject to performance.
- Salary and conditions of service are those applicable to comparable positions in federal universities under Federal Government arrangements.
