Inspection Officer at CARS45 Limited – Abuja, Delta, Lagos and Ogun

CARS45 Limited is recruiting full-time Inspection Officers for locations in Abuja (FCT), Delta, Lagos and Ogun. The role involves examining vehicles, assessing their mechanical and physical condition, and explaining inspection findings to customers who want to sell their cars.

Key responsibilities

• Use vehicle diagnostic scanning equipment to assess vehicle condition and identify faults.
• Inspect vehicle interiors and exteriors, including the engine, transmission, braking system, steering, suspension and air conditioning.
• Carry out inspection test drives of vehicles fitted with manual or automatic transmissions.
• Explain vehicle conditions to sellers to support pricing and negotiation discussions.
• Conduct assigned remote inspections for local car dealerships.
• Prepare an inspection report for each vehicle examined and follow established operating procedures.
• Notify supervisors about questionable odometer readings, identification numbers or missing vehicle identifiers.
• Keep inspection areas, forms, tools and equipment clean, organised and ready for use.
• Maintain professional working relationships with customers, colleagues, supervisors and members of the public.
• Drive safely and comply with traffic laws while carrying out inspection duties.

Qualifications and experience

• HND or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering is preferred. OND holders, graduates of other disciplines and mechanics may also be considered if they have relevant automotive skills or experience.
• At least one year of experience in vehicle diagnosis, inspection or repair.
• Ability to drive both manual and automatic cars.
• Practical understanding of automotive diagnosis, repair methods, vehicle models and current industry practices.
• Ability to use a vehicle scanning machine and identify vehicle faults.
• Knowledge of vehicle identification number (VIN) locations, odometer readings and signs of questionable readings, or the ability to learn odometer assessment.
• Computer literacy and clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Living close to an inspection centre is an advantage.
