National Peace Building and Conflict Analysis Specialist at Danish Refugee Council (DRC) – Abuja (FCT)
Danish Refugee Council is recruiting a National Peacebuilding and Conflict Analysis Specialist in Abuja to lead technical conflict analysis and peacebuilding work under the Scaling Anticipatory Action for Displacement (SAAD) project.
Supervised by: National Anticipatory Coordinator – Nigeria; Technical Supervisor: Global Peacebuilding Advisor and Peacebuilding and Conflict Early Warning Project Advisor
Reporting to: Head of Programme, Nigeria
Area of Operation: Nigeria
Employment Period: 1 year, renewable
Type of Contract: National
About The Job
DRC is seeking a National Peacebuilding and Conflict Analysis Specialist (PB/CA Specialist) to support peacebuilding programming on the Scaling Anticipatory Action for Displacement (SAAD) project in Nigeria.
SAAD, funded by Carnegie Corporation of New York for 24 months (July 2026 to June 2028), aims to shift humanitarian crisis management from reaction to prevention by combining machine learning displacement forecasting with community-based early warning systems and conflict prevention and peacebuilding initiatives, protection monitoring, and conflict-sensitive anticipatory planning.
In Nigeria, the project will build on DRC’s conflict analysis, protection monitoring system, and peacebuilding programming to anticipate localized conflict dynamics that precede displacement.
By linking displacement forecasts to existing early warning systems, SAAD will identify escalating transhumance-related tensions, resource competition flashpoints, and community-armed group friction along key displacement corridors.
When predefined thresholds are met, pre-agreed anticipatory measures will activate relevant, adapted conflict-prevention and social-cohesion initiatives, including humanitarian mediation and dialogue facilitation, as well as targeted protection services, to interrupt escalation pathways before violence peaks and displacement occurs.
The PB/CA Specialist is the technical lead on DRC’s conflict analysis and peacebuilding programming for SAAD and also supports peacebuilding programming overall in Nigeria.
Under direct management by the DRC Nigeria Head of Programme and technical supervision by the Global Peacebuilding Advisor and Peacebuilding and Conflict Early Warning Project Advisor, the Specialist is responsible for leading conflict analysis and peacebuilding programming, technical support to peacebuilding activities on SAAD and other projects in Nigeria, as relevant.
