Sewage Treatment Plant Operator at Alaro City Development FZC – Lagos

Alaro City Development FZC is recruiting a Sewage Treatment Plant Operator in Lagos to keep its wastewater treatment systems and sewer infrastructure operating safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor sewage treatment plant control systems and equipment in line with approved operating procedures.
• Carry out scheduled maintenance on sewer lines, pumps, lifting stations, stabilisation ponds and other treatment infrastructure.
• Make new sewer connections, reconnect services and complete minor network extensions.
• Investigate equipment faults, pipe leaks and blockages; repair or replace components as needed.
• Measure, cut, assemble, weld, secure and lubricate piping and mechanical parts for maintenance and construction work.
• Monitor plant condition, maintain certification standards and document operating and maintenance data.
• Prepare accurate records, reports and briefings, follow up on regulatory requirements and maintain a clean plant environment.
• Apply workplace safety procedures, particularly when handling hazardous chemicals and heavy machinery.

Qualifications and experience

• HND, technical college qualification or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Water/Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
• Three to five years of experience in industrial-scale sewage treatment.
• Practical knowledge of wastewater treatment, collection and disposal, sewer machinery and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, troubleshoot mechanical problems and use Microsoft Excel for records.
• Strong reporting, communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or with a team, adapt to changing priorities, work shifts and undertake overtime.
• Willingness to live and work in Epe, Lagos.
