Year 1 Class Teacher via Jobtion Consulting – Orchid/Eleganza, Lagos

Jobtion Consulting is recruiting an on-site Year 1 Class Teacher for a private school in the Orchid/Eleganza area of Lagos. The teacher reports to the Lower Primary Section Supervisor or Deputy Head Teacher.

Teaching and classroom leadership

• Deliver differentiated Year 1 lessons in English, phonics, reading, writing, Mathematics and Science.
• Apply play-based learning and appropriate activities for early primary children.
• Identify learning gaps early and provide suitable classroom support.
• Create an inclusive, safe and stimulating learning environment with positive behaviour management.
• Assess pupils continuously, record progress and prepare termly reports for parents.
• Contribute to pupil welfare, team planning, staff meetings and school activities.

Requirements

• BEd, or a BA/BSc with PGDE, in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education or a related field; MEd is an advantage.
• Four to five years’ lower-primary or Year 1 teaching experience in a reputable private or international school.
• Strong knowledge of the British curriculum and transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1.
• Practical knowledge of Jolly Phonics and early numeracy.
• Good classroom communication, ICT integration, patience and creativity.
• Must be resident in Lagos.

Salary

• ₦150,000–₦200,000 net monthly, negotiable.
