Assistant Site Engineer at VAVA Project – Victoria Island

VAVA Project is recruiting a full-time Assistant Site Engineer in Victoria Island, Lagos. Reporting to the Site Engineer or Project Manager in the Project/Construction department, the role supports supervision, coordination and quality control across building sites.

Responsibilities

• Support daily construction supervision and coordinate site staff, artisans, technicians and subcontractors.
• Read architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings and monitor work against specifications.
• Inspect work quality, identify defects and report technical or schedule problems.
• Monitor progress against work programmes, milestones and budgets.
• Track construction materials, requests, stock usage and wastage.
• Measure completed work, take dimensions and assist with quantities and basic material estimates.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports, inspection records and labour documentation.
• Liaise with consultants, engineers, suppliers, supervisors and project managers.
• Monitor site housekeeping and compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Carry out other site-related engineering responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• BSc or HND in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• One to three years’ experience in construction or building project supervision.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural plans and understand building methods.
• Basic knowledge of materials, measurements and quantity estimation.
• Familiarity with construction health and safety.
• Microsoft Office proficiency; AutoCAD or other engineering software is an advantage.
• Professional certification or membership is beneficial.
• Good coordination, problem-solving, communication and record-keeping skills.
• Professional integrity and willingness to work at different project locations when required.
