Community Engagement Specialist at Heart for Humanity Initiative – Dikwa, Borno

Heart for Humanity Initiative is hiring a full-time Community Engagement Specialist in Dikwa, Borno State. Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the role helps communities participate meaningfully in humanitarian projects.

Responsibilities

• Map traditional and religious leaders, women and youth groups, and camp or ward committees.
• Organise community entry, sensitisation, mobilisation, participatory assessments and planning sessions.
• Work with monitoring and safeguarding colleagues to establish feedback and complaints channels.
• Promote the participation of women, persons with disabilities, older people and other vulnerable groups.
• Support beneficiary identification and verification against agreed criteria.
• Communicate in local languages, document community feedback and prepare weekly activity reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, Mass Communication or related discipline.
• At least three years of experience in humanitarian community mobilisation or accountability to affected populations.
• Experience working in Borno State; experience in Dikwa is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and Kanuri or Hausa; Shuwa Arabic is an advantage.
• Strong facilitation, listening, cultural sensitivity and conflict-resolution skills.
• Willingness to be based in Dikwa and travel across the local government area.
