Gender Based Violence Case Worker at Malteser International – Maiduguri

Malteser International is recruiting a full-time Gender Based Violence Case Worker in Maiduguri, Borno State, for a humanitarian assignment beginning in November 2026 and running to September 2027.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities at Women and Girls’ Safe Spaces and liaise with community social workers.
• Provide survivor-centred case management from confidential intake and assessment through action plans, referral, follow-up and closure.
• Offer basic emotional support to women, girls and family members as appropriate.
• Assess needs for dignity kits, non-food items and transport to medical care.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and liaise with health, protection and community service providers.
• Lead case review meetings, monitor cases and refer emergencies to the Protection Officer.
• Observe safeguarding, organisational codes of conduct and non-discrimination principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Social Sciences or a related field.
• At least two years’ relevant experience in GBV case management, protection, psychosocial support or humanitarian services.
• Knowledge of survivor-centred care, referrals, informed consent, confidentiality, safeguarding and PSEA.
• Community outreach or humanitarian data collection experience; GBVIMS/Primero knowledge is desirable.
• Excellent listening, communication, reporting, MS Office and English skills; Hausa or Kanuri is an advantage.

Conditions and benefits

Contract period: November 2026 to September 2027. Pay follows Malteser International’s salary grade. Benefits include group life insurance, health cover, a 13th-month payment and applicable leave entitlements.
