Drilling Engineer (In-House Drilling Engineer) at Undisclosed Company via IOTA Group – Lagos

A global oil and gas and energy-sector company is recruiting an In-House Drilling Engineer in Lagos through IOTA Group. The role covers directional well planning, drilling engineering support, wellpath monitoring and technical reporting.

Well planning and directional engineering

• Design and update well trajectories in line with reservoir targets, constraints and required directional profiles.
• Apply geodetic coordinate conversion, magnetic-field modelling and ISCWSA well-position uncertainty analysis.
• Produce vertical-section, plan-view and trajectory plots, including projections and way-to-target monitoring.
• Carry out anti-collision risk assessments, spider plots, travelling cylinders, non-magnetic spacing calculations and no-go-zone reviews.
• Select and evaluate bottom-hole assemblies, including jar placement, directional tendency, torque-and-drag, hydraulics, ESD, ECD, SPP and bit nozzle/TFA requirements.
• Evaluate buckling, harmonic rotary-speed risks, well tortuosity and directional drilling performance.
• Support the drilling team on directional execution; in collision-risk environments, support rig personnel with wellpath projections at least 45 metres ahead.

Technical reporting

• Keep survey databases current, check MWD and gyro data and validate final well trajectories.
• Prepare daily planned-versus-actual trajectory plots, directional drilling programmes and end-of-well reports.
• Document technical analyses, operating recommendations and lessons learned.

Requirements

• University degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Five to ten years of relevant onshore or in-house drilling engineering experience.
• Experience with drilling software including DOX, DrillPlan, Perform Toolkit Pro, Compass, WellPlan, WellArchitect and JewelSuite Well Engineering.
• The position is open to Nigerian nationals.
