Gender, Protection & Safeguarding Officer at Heart for Humanity Initiative – Dikwa LGA
Heart for Humanity Initiative seeks a Gender, Protection & Safeguarding Officer for a three-month, fixed-term full-time project based in Dikwa LGA, Borno State, with travel to Maiduguri. Reporting to the Program Manager, the officer promotes gender equality and safe humanitarian practices.
Responsibilities
- Integrate gender and protection considerations into project design, targeting and delivery.
- Assess protection risks and recommend mitigating actions.
- Train staff, volunteers and contractors on conduct, PSEAH and child safeguarding, including signed commitments.
- Run confidential reporting channels and make survivor-centred referrals to relevant services.
- Maintain referral pathways and coordinate with protection, GBV and child-protection networks.
- Monitor distributions, sites and meetings for safeguarding risks.
- Report safeguarding concerns securely to designated focal points within required timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, Law, Psychology, Sociology or a related discipline.
- At least three years of humanitarian experience in gender, GBV, protection or safeguarding.
- Experience in survivor-centred referrals and case pathways.
- Understanding of PSEAH, IASC principles and child safeguarding.
- Strong facilitation, empathy, discretion and confidentiality.
- Fluent English and Hausa or Kanuri.
