Program Manager at Heart for Humanity Initiative – Maiduguri and Dikwa, Borno

Heart for Humanity Initiative is hiring a Program Manager for a three-month humanitarian project based in Maiduguri, with field travel to Dikwa LGA. Reporting to the Executive Director, the manager will supervise all project staff and ensure compliant, timely and effective project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project work planning, phased budgeting and staffing arrangements throughout the three-month period.
• Supervise, coach and assess project staff, including through weekly team coordination meetings.
• Manage implementation in Dikwa in accordance with Sphere and Core Humanitarian Standard principles.
• Review budget performance with the Finance & Compliance Officer and authorise expenditure within delegated limits.
• Represent the project in coordination meetings with SEMA, local authorities, UN agencies and other partners.
• Maintain donor relationships and approve progress reports and final project documentation.
• Identify and manage security, access, financial and safeguarding risks.
• Embed safeguarding, protection and do-no-harm practices throughout activities.
• Oversee project close-out, handover and documentation of lessons learned.

Qualifications and experience

• Master’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, Public Health or a related field; a bachelor’s degree with substantial additional experience is acceptable.
• At least five years in humanitarian or development programmes, including two years in management.
• Experience managing donor-funded programmes in northeast Nigeria.
• Project management certification such as PMP or PMD Pro is advantageous.
• Strong leadership, project planning, budget control, donor compliance and written English.
• Hausa or Kanuri is an advantage; ability to make decisions under pressure in insecure settings.

Contract: Fixed-term, full-time appointment for three months.
