Assistant Geotechnical Laboratory Technician at an Undisclosed Company via Proten – Lagos

An undisclosed employer is recruiting a full-time Assistant Geotechnical Laboratory Technician in Lagos through Proten International to assist with geological sampling, testing and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Receive, identify, catalogue and store geological, soil and rock samples in accordance with laboratory procedures.
• Prepare specimens, conduct allocated tests and analyse results using approved methods.
• Set up, check, clean and maintain instruments, including routine recalibration and basic troubleshooting.
• Document laboratory activities, equipment logs, test results, reports and digital records accurately.
• Support research and sample collection while ensuring proper storage and specimen integrity.
• Maintain safe handling practices and a clean, organised laboratory, and comply with professional conduct and safety policies.
• Coordinate with the technical team and explain test procedures and findings when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Chemistry, Physics or another relevant applied science, with at least a Second Class Lower classification.
• Three to five years’ laboratory-technician experience, ideally in geotechnical or geological testing.
• Knowledge of geological interpretation, analytical methods and appropriate software.
• Competence handling specimens, conducting experiments and working with laboratory instruments.
• Strong scientific reasoning, attention to detail, documentation, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to learn new instruments and tests, work effectively with colleagues and meet deadlines.

Salary

₦200,000–₦250,000 net per month.
