Graduate Trainee, Human Resources at Babban Gona – Ikeja, Lagos

Babban Gona is recruiting a contract Graduate Trainee in Human Resources for its People & Culture team in Ikeja, Lagos. The role offers experience in recruitment, onboarding, HR operations and people analytics.

Responsibilities

• This role is ideal for a self-starter who brings fresh ideas, questions how things are done, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
• Assist with sourcing candidates through job boards, social media, and professional networks.
• Screen CVs and support shortlisting against job requirements.
• Coordinate interview scheduling and keep candidates informed throughout the process.
• Help maintain recruitment trackers and ensure data is accurate and up to date.
• Support the onboarding of new hires, including documentation and orientation logistics.
• Assist in coordinating employee engagement activities and People & Culture initiatives.
• Maintain and update employee records and HR documentation.
• Support day-to-day HR processes and respond to routine employee queries.
• Assist with the preparation of HR letters, forms, and internal communications.
• Compile HR data and prepare simple reports on recruitment, headcount, and other people metrics.
• Help identify trends and suggest improvements to HR processes.
• Contribute ideas that make HR processes faster, clearer, and more candidate- and employee-friendly.
• Support other People & Culture projects and ad hoc tasks as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage people at all levels.
• Analytical mindset and strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, especially spreadsheets.
• Proactive, innovative, and eager to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
