Position Title: HSE Supervisor.
Job Station: Rivers State.
INTRODUCTION :-
HSE Supervisor job opportunity is available at a Leading Indigenous Downstream Oil and Gas Company for individuals who possess Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Engineering, Safety Management, or in a related discipline.
Position Summary
- Develop and implement policies: ensure policies and procedures are in place and it is enforced.
- Inspections: inspect the workplace for potential hazards, identify potential hazards, assess the risks and report potential hazards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :-
- Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices or breach of safety regulations.
- Conduct equipment inspection to ensure they are correctly installed and operational.
- Facilitate and schedule repairs of unsafe or damaged equipment.
- Organize safety training to educate company staff on necessary safety principles.
- Develop and implement safety, procedures, and policies for production operations.
- Carry out investigations to identify the root cause of an incident or other unsafe condition on a work site.
- Oversee the placement and setup of safety signs to warn of potential hazard.
- Prepare and present to company management periodic report of safety operations.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agents and investigators to address cases of workplace accident.
- Proffer recommendations on safety topics such as proper waste disposal, fire regulations, and noise.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify work areas with high risk of operational hazard.
- Oversee company waste disposal methods to ensure they comply with safe disposal procedures.
- Review company operational processes to ensure they are in line with external safety legislations.
- Implements the departmental budget to ensure that safety objectives are achieved and monitors performance to minimize variances.
- Monitors the inspection of trucks periodically to ascertain road worthiness as well as escalating any current or potential issues.
- Supervises preloading, loading, tank to truck, truck to tank and Ship to shore (STS) product transfers.
- Supervise the 24hours close watch operation done by the unit and follow up with any written observation.
- Supervise the operations of the industrial cleaners and the housekeeping activities.
- Performs periodic safety drills e.g. fire drills to ascertain the workers have a good understanding of the process in case of an emergency.
- Ensures that the business is compliant with statutory, regulatory, industry and other HSE requirements.
- Conduct risk assessment, identify potential business hazards and make recommendations where necessary to the Head, Safety.
- Supervises the implementation of designed safety policies and procedures.
- Inspects safety tools and equipment e.g. sprinklers, fire extinguishers etc.
- Maintains effective relationships with relevant external agencies and emergency response service providers (e.g. Fire Service, emergency services, HMO, environmental agency etc.)
- Makes sure that personal protective equipment, such as dust masks, safety glasses, footwear and safety helmets, is being used in workplaces according to regulations.
- Coordinates the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, work place inspections and other matters related to implementing safety procedures in facilities.
- Coordinate emergency procedures, Depot rescues, firefighting and first aid crews.
- Attend occupational safety and health seminars to update job knowledge and enhance their skills.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the HSE Manager.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION :-
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Engineering, Safety Management, or in a related discipline. Certification from recognized occupational health and safety body is also necessary for the position
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc./HND) in Engineering, Sciences, Social Sciences, Administration or Humanities
- HSE Certifications – NEBOSH, NISP, OSHA etc
- Certified First Aider
- Minimum of five (5) years working experience in the Safety and/or Environment role in the Oil & Gas Industry
- Experience in Waste & Emissions Management
- Ability to drive HSE Standards Enforcement
