Internal Audit & Compliance Officer at Student Housing Company – Abuja

Student Housing Company is recruiting an Internal Audit & Compliance Officer in Abuja to strengthen controls across student-hostel construction projects, material movements, purchasing, finance and ongoing operations.

Responsibilities

• Audit site materials and fuel against approved bills of quantities, and carry out surprise inventory counts.
• Reconcile fixed-asset registers, plant usage and equipment-maintenance records.
• Check vendor approvals, purchase orders, receipts, deliveries, contract variations and subcontractor certificates.
• Review payroll, site labour attendance, petty cash and advances for accuracy and potential leakage.
• Design, evaluate and strengthen internal-control policies, risk assessments and segregation of duties.
• Investigate discrepancies, potential fraud and non-compliance; report findings and follow up corrective actions.
• Monitor SOPs, train employees on controls, support external audits and deliver monthly exception reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
• Three to five years in internal control, audit, risk management or financial compliance, preferably in construction, engineering or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of BOQs, construction accounting, stock controls, COSO/SOX-style frameworks and audit documentation.
• Advanced Excel and experience with systems such as SAP, Sage or QuickBooks.
• Strong analytical, investigation, communication, ethics and reporting skills.
• Progress towards or possession of ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA or CPA is an advantage.
