Laboratory Supervisor – Chemist at Nestle Nigeria Plc – Abaji

Nestle Nigeria Plc is recruiting a Laboratory Supervisor – Chemist for its Abaji Factory in Abuja. The position leads the Chemistry Laboratory’s analytical work and product compliance, supporting quality decisions, laboratory safety and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate chemical testing of raw materials, packaging, in-process controls and finished products, enabling accurate release decisions.
• Maintain analytical methods, equipment calibration, lab materials and dependable reporting.
• Advise production teams on chemical quality problems, including concentration, conductivity and recipe-related concerns.
• Oversee product compliance assessments, contaminant monitoring, sampling plans and escalation of safety risks.
• Drive Good Laboratory Practice, chemical safety, HAZMAT preparedness and audit readiness.
• Support HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO/NMS and internal quality reviews and proficiency testing.
• Maintain accurate quality transactions and support SAP/GLOBE quality systems.
• Train laboratory personnel, coordinate technical support and apply SPC, DMAIC and root-cause analysis to improve performance.

Requirements

• B.Sc or equivalent in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, Food Science/Technology or a related discipline.
• Practical analytical chemistry experience in a manufacturing or regulated laboratory, including food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of laboratory management, product compliance, GLP and quality verification.
• Good analytical troubleshooting, reporting, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; SAP familiarity is strongly relevant.
• Experience in coaching others and knowledge of HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001:2015 or chemical safety are advantages.
