Production Manager at Reliable Steel and Plastic Industries Limited – Onitsha

Reliable Steel and Plastic Industries Limited is recruiting a full-time Production Manager in Onitsha, Anambra State, to oversee daily plastic manufacturing operations, workforce deployment, machine performance, product quality and production targets.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise daily manufacturing work to meet approved production schedules and customer delivery targets.
• Manage supervisors, shift leaders, machine operators and other production employees across production units.
• Schedule production against customer orders, stock levels, machinery and available resources.
• Monitor injection moulding, blow moulding and other plastic processing machines.
• Coordinate prompt responses to breakdowns and improve machine utilisation with maintenance teams.
• Track raw materials, components and packaging use to reduce wastage and production costs.
• Work with quality control staff to maintain finished-product specifications and reduce defects, rework and rejected goods.
• Enforce SOPs, safe working procedures, discipline, punctuality and accountability.
• Monitor output, downtime, labour efficiency and materials consumption for performance improvements.
• Coordinate production needs with Maintenance, Quality Control, Stores, Logistics and Human Resources.
• Arrange staffing effectively across production units and support preventive maintenance schedules.
• Maintain production, downtime, shift handover and material records.
• Identify continuous improvement and process optimisation opportunities.
• Provide management with regular performance reports, challenges and recommendations.
• Maintain housekeeping and occupational, environmental and safety standards.
• Undertake other assigned production responsibilities.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical, Production, Industrial or Polymer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least five years’ experience in plastic manufacturing, including at least three years supervising or managing production.
• Demonstrated experience with factory production management and plastic manufacturing operations.
• Practical knowledge of injection and blow moulding, plastic processing and production equipment.
• Production planning, capacity utilisation, quality assurance, preventive maintenance and cost-control expertise.
• Experience supervising sizeable production teams and coordinating several units.
• Competence in Microsoft Excel and production reporting tools.
• Strong leadership, analytical, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Sound decision-making and ability to manage competing production priorities under pressure.
