Second Engineer at Undisclosed Maritime Company – Rivers State

An oil and gas, shipping and maritime company is recruiting a Second Engineer for vessel-based work around Bonny Island and Port Harcourt in Rivers State.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Engineer with safe vessel operations in accordance with STCW, MARPOL, flag-state, class, ISM/ISPS and MLC 2006 requirements.
• Plan and supervise machinery inspections, corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance.
• Manage planned maintenance through the vessel’s Mx Suite system.
• Monitor fuel and lubricating oil use and maintain engine-room stores.
• Train engine-room crew and be prepared to oversee the engineering department during an emergency.
• Maintain technical logbooks and contribute to dry-dock and repair reports.

Requirements

• STCW Second Engineer Certificate of Competency (Regulation III/2 or III/3, as applicable) recognised by NIMASA.
• STCW Basic Safety Training, Advanced Fire Fighting, Engine-room Resource Management and relevant management-level courses.
• Valid seafarer’s medical fitness certification, Seaman’s Discharge Book and international passport.
• At least two years’ experience in the same rank on the same vessel type.
• Experience with Wärtsilä and/or Caterpillar engines, electrical diagrams and relevant computer systems.
• Good observation, teamwork and fitness for vessel work.
• Experience of SPM buoy, workboat or diving-system maintenance, ship security awareness and high-voltage training is an advantage.
