Senior Geoscience Interpreter at GEC Petroleum Development Company (GPDC) – Lagos

GEC Petroleum Development Company is recruiting a full-time, on-site Senior Geoscience Interpreter in Lagos to provide geoscience leadership for petroleum exploration, development and production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead subsurface interpretation and seismic mapping of exploration and development prospects, including time, velocity, depth and seismic attribute maps.
• Guide geoscientists and deliver technical quality assurance for geological and geophysical outputs.
• Provide expert advice on geotechnical documents, well planning and operations.
• Incorporate geological uncertainty into exploration, appraisal, reserve estimates and field-development plans.
• Lead technical work programmes in line with the company’s subsurface standards and HSSE procedures.
• Identify, mature and present economically viable drilling opportunities.

Requirements

• BSc in Earth Sciences or an equivalent subject; an MSc is strongly preferred.
• Eight to ten years’ experience in an exploration and production business, preferably an international oil company.
• Experience across diverse geological settings, plays and basins, including clastics, carbonates and passive margins.
• Proven seismic interpretation, prospect maturation, subsurface evaluation, well proposals and technical leadership.
• Competence with relevant interpretation software and understanding of other subsurface disciplines.
• Experience with joint-venture or production-sharing contracts, drilling operations or stratigraphic and structural reservoirs is advantageous.
