Shipping Operations Clerk, FMN Infrastructure – Bulk Terminal Limited at Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc – Apapa, Lagos

Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc seeks a Shipping Operations Clerk for its Bulk Terminal operations in Apapa, Lagos, to coordinate vessel movements, cargo handling and port clearance records.

Role overview

The Job​

Monitor daily cargo operations, including vessel loading and unloading, to ensure efficient and timely execution.

Board vessels upon berthing as the owner’s representative and liaise with relevant government agencies to facilitate required clearances.

Coordinate pilotage arrangements and other operational requirements for incoming and outgoing vessels.

Prepare and maintain port operation reports, including Statements of Facts (SOF) for vessel loading and unloading activities.

Notify relevant government agencies in advance of vessel berthing and sailing schedules.

Attend to vessel crew and owners’ operational requirements to ensure satisfactory service delivery.

Process vessel berthing and sailing clearances, permits, and other required approvals with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Qualifications and experience

• 5 O’ level credits including Mathematics & English in not more than 2 sittings.
• NABTEB, Trade Test, City & Guilds, Technical certification.
• Minimum of 2 years’ cognate experience in shipping operations, vessel agency, port operations, or a related field.
• Have a good understanding of shipping operations, vessel husbandry, and port procedures.
• Have good communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with vessel crews, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Have good numerical skills SOF documentation and calculations.
• Be able to prepare accurate operational reports and maintain proper documentation.
