WASH Assistant Officer at EYN Projects – Borno State

EYN Projects is recruiting a full-time, on-site WASH Assistant Officer in Borno State. Under the WASH Officer’s direction, the role supports hygiene promotion, community activities and supervision of WASH-related work.

WASH activities and community support

• Assist with technical oversight of water, sanitation and hygiene construction or rehabilitation work and supervise contractors against agreed WASH standards.
• Supervise community hygiene promoters and monitor hygiene activities, data collection and related reporting.
• Train and coach promoters and volunteers in hygiene and sanitation practices.
• Work with the MEAL team on assessments and help identify community hygiene issues with local leaders.
• Support community mobilisation, solid-waste initiatives, hygiene and menstrual hygiene management kit distributions and recipient guidance.
• Attend technical coordination and field meetings and contribute to weekly and monthly work plans.
• Prepare reports, share technical feedback, support WASH project proposals and complete supervisor-assigned duties.

Qualifications and skills

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Statistics, Economics or a related discipline, with at least two years of demonstrated monitoring and evaluation experience.
• Relevant monitoring and evaluation background includes database work, remote monitoring, assessments and emergency situation analysis.
• Office experience, good knowledge of Nigerian humanitarian and development contexts, and strong report writing.
• Good numerical analysis, organisation and computer application skills.
• Effective communication in English and Hausa.
