Year 5 & 6 Mathematics Teacher via Jobtion Consulting – Orchid/Eleganza, Lagos

A private school in the Orchid/Eleganza area of Lagos is recruiting a Year 5 and Year 6 Mathematics Teacher through Jobtion Consulting. The full-time role focuses on effective mathematics teaching, pupil assessment and preparation for entrance examinations.

Job Summary

• The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Mathematics instruction to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, while preparing pupils for Common Entrance, Secondary School Entrance, Checkpoint and other external examinations.

Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning:

• Teach Mathematics effectively to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils in line with the school’s curriculum.
• Plan and deliver well-structured, engaging and differentiated Mathematics lessons.
• Prepare comprehensive lesson plans, schemes of work and teaching materials.
• Break down complex mathematical concepts into simple, practical and understandable lessons.
• Prepare Year 6 pupils adequately for Common Entrance, Secondary School Entrance and other external examinations.
• Use appropriate teaching strategies to support pupils with different learning needs.

Assessment and Academic Support:

• Conduct regular assessments through classwork, homework, tests and mock examinations.
• Monitor pupils’ academic progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Identify learning gaps and provide appropriate intervention and support.
• Maintain accurate academic and assessment records.
• Participate in parents’ meetings and communicate pupils’ progress effectively.

Classroom Management:

• Create a positive, stimulating and well-organised learning environment.
• Maintain effective classroom discipline and encourage positive behaviour.
• Foster pupils’ confidence, participation and interest in Mathematics.

Professional Duties:

• Collaborate with other teachers and school management to improve academic outcomes.
• Participate in staff meetings, training and school activities.
• Support the school’s academic goals and uphold all school policies.
• Prepare teaching resources independently and ensure lesson materials are personally developed and not AI-generated.

Requirements

• B.Ed / B.Sc in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or a related field.
• Minimum of 3–4 years’ proven experience teaching Mathematics at Year 5 and Year 6 level in a reputable private school.
• Must be confident and highly competent in teaching both Year 5 and Year 6 Mathematics.
• Strong track record of preparing pupils for Common Entrance and other external examinations, with demonstrable results.
• Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to simplify complex mathematical concepts.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Must be passionate, organised, patient and result-oriented.
• Must reside around the Lekki-Ajah axis.
