Fleet Manager (Fleet Operations) at Dangote Group – Apapa, Lagos

Dangote Group is recruiting a Fleet Manager for its Fleet Operations department in Apapa, Lagos. The position oversees the operation and administration of assigned trucks and drivers, reporting directly to the Senior Transport Manager and supervising Fleet Officers and Fleet Analysts.

Fleet operations and administration

• Manage daily operations and administration for assigned trucks, drivers and fleet staff.
• Ensure the required number of serviceable trucks is ready for loading each day in line with approved instructions.
• Coordinate product deliveries to meet customer requirements.
• Work with workshop personnel to arrange timely repairs and minimise fleet downtime.
• Inspect trucks regularly for misuse, negligence, avoidable damage and maintenance issues.
• Coordinate vehicle movements and tracking with the Tracking Unit.
• Maintain productive working relationships with the Logistics Department at Dangote Sugar Refinery.

Safety, incident handling and reporting

• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly truck performance reports for the Senior Transport Manager.
• Report highway breakdowns, accidents and vehicles detained by the Police, FRSC, LASTMA or other authorities through the appropriate management channels.
• Supervise and support fleet officers and analysts while keeping operational records current.
• Carry out other duties reasonably assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications and skills

• First degree or HND in Business Administration, Transport Management, Social Science or a related discipline.
• At least five years of relevant professional experience.
• Understanding of fleet administration, logistics and transport management practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with fleet management software and tracking technology.
• Strong teamwork, communication, conflict-resolution and operational coordination skills.
