Head of Market Research at VFD Group – Lagos

VFD Group is seeking a full-time Head of Market Research in Lagos to lead financial research, market intelligence and analytical support for strategic, product and pricing decisions.

Role purpose

To lead market intelligence, economic and financial research, industry analysis, and data-driven insights that support the organization’s business strategy, product development, pricing decisions, and capital market development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the organization’s market research and intelligence strategy.
• Conduct research on Nigeria’s capital markets, private capital, unlisted securities, commercial paper, and other relevant financial instruments.
• Analyze market trends, investor behavior, issuer needs, liquidity, trading activity, and competitive dynamics.
• Produce research reports, market outlooks, sector analyses, and strategic briefing notes for management and stakeholders.
• Develop research-backed recommendations for new products, services, pricing models, and market development initiatives.
• Track local and international capital market developments, regulatory changes, macroeconomic indicators, and emerging investment trends.
• Maintain reliable market databases, research models, dashboards, and performance indicators.
• Collaborate with Business Development and product teams to identify market opportunities and support commercial proposals.
• Provide research input for management presentations, board papers, investor engagement, and industry events.
• Establish quality standards for research method, data integrity, and publication.
• Build relationships with research institutions, universities, financial analysts, industry associations, and other information providers.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• A master’s degree or relevant professional qualification is an advantage.
• At least 7–10 years of experience in financial research, economic analysis, capital markets, investment research, or a related field.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools; experience with financial databases and statistical tools is desirable.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, investment instruments, and economic indicators.
