IP Network Engineer at Layer3 – Lagos
Layer3 is recruiting a full-time IP Network Engineer in Lagos. The engineer will plan, implement, support and troubleshoot enterprise network services, covering core and access infrastructure, IP/MPLS environments and network administration.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on engineering support for BGP, OSPF, MPLS/VPLS, VPNs, DMVPN, SDN, VRRP/HSRP, QoS and related routing or switching technologies.
- Configure LAN, WAN and WLAN networks, including VLANs, tunnelling, spanning tree and link services.
- Plan, design and maintain core, access, metro and edge routing topologies for converged data and communication services.
- Supervise IP/MPLS service installations, testing, handovers and corrective maintenance.
- Troubleshoot communications failures, bottlenecks, system logs and reported network problems.
- Support enterprise network and systems administration and contribute to network resilience and service availability.
- Build automation and internal engineering tools for IP/MPLS management and integration.
- Assist technical solution design, request-for-quotation responses and customer proposals.
- Contribute to cloud, security, IoT, SDN and SD-WAN technology initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, IT or a related field.
- Three to five years’ relevant experience managing and troubleshooting IP networks.
- CCNA or JNCIA certification is required.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortigate and Bluecoat technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems and structured cabling.
- Ability to analyse system logs, network failures and performance bottlenecks.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and technical problem-solving skills.
