Machinist / Turner at NESCO – Kurra Falls, Plateau

Nigerian Electricity Supply Corporation (Nigeria) Limited is recruiting a Machinist / Turner at Kurra Falls, Plateau State, to fabricate, repair and maintain mechanical components used at its hydropower plant.

Key responsibilities

• Operate machine tools to fabricate and repair mechanical parts.
• Read technical drawings, blueprints and specifications and produce accurately machined components.
• Take precise measurements using Vernier callipers, micrometers, screw gauges and other gauges.
• Carry out routine maintenance and repair of plant equipment, including turbines, pumps and valves.
• Fabricate or refurbish components to help limit equipment downtime.
• Assist with mechanical alignment, assembly, troubleshooting and repairs.
• Inspect and test completed parts for quality, function and fit.
• Record machining activities and completed work accurately.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations when using machinery.
• Help train colleagues on machining and equipment-handling techniques.
• Prepare periodic reports for the Head, Workshop, and undertake other assigned duties.

Qualifications and skills

• A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Machining Technology or a related discipline.
• Proficiency with machine tools and maintenance practices.
• Sound understanding of mechanical systems and precision machining.
• Ability to interpret technical plans and drawings.
• Knowledge of hydropower equipment and components.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
