Relationship Manager, SME Banking at Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria – Port Harcourt, Rivers

Standard Chartered Bank is recruiting a Relationship Manager for SME Banking in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This permanent, office-based role focuses on commercial client acquisition, trade finance and deposit growth.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and build relationships with trade-oriented SME clients, especially businesses with strong deposit potential.
• Develop new-to-bank customers through business networks, supply chains, alliances and local prospecting.
• Assess SME financing and deposit needs and propose suitable letters of credit, guarantees, import/export financing, cash-management and payment services.
• Help customers use online and digital banking channels, including POS and remote access options.
• Collaborate with trade operations, treasury and specialist bankers to complete client transactions and expand relationships.
• Monitor portfolios, report client feedback and market insights, and follow KYC, AML, risk and conduct standards.

Requirements

• First degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field, or an accepted equivalent professional qualification.
• At least five years’ post-graduation banking experience, particularly in SME relationship management or trade finance.
• Knowledge of letters of credit, bills for collection, guarantees, transaction banking, deposit growth and credit risk.
• Evidence of business development, client relationship management, stakeholder communication and compliance.
• Trade finance certification or specialist professional knowledge is advantageous.
