Financial Controller at MoMo Payment Service Bank – Lagos

MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB), an MTN Nigeria fintech subsidiary licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, seeks a Financial Controller to lead the integrity of its financial reporting, internal controls and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS, regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Review reconciliations and resolve outstanding items while strengthening balance-sheet governance.
• Develop financial controls, accounting policies and governance frameworks.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and resolve findings.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory reporting and internal requirements.
• Review journal entries, provisions, accruals and financial adjustments.
• Provide finance guidance for business initiatives, products, projects and investments.
• Safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks; improve controls and automation.
• Partner with Risk, Compliance, Technology, Operations and business units.
• Prepare analysis, management reports and performance insights for executives.
• Oversee regulatory, statutory and financial reporting submissions.
• Manage and develop the Financial Control team.
• Support the CFO with financial governance, liquidity oversight and finance transformation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACA, ACCA, ANAN or equivalent.
• 10–13 years in financial control, reporting, audit or corporate finance, including at least three years in leadership.
• Fintech or banking experience preferred.
• Strong IFRS, internal controls, tax, compliance and financial-services regulatory knowledge.
