ElsaDave Consulting Limited is recruiting a Survey and GIS Mapping Officer in Alausa, Lagos.

Position overview

The Surveying and Mapping Officer is responsible for acquiring, processing, and analysing survey and geospatial data to produce accurate survey plans and other deliverables in accordance with client specifications.

The role also involves supporting the collection of spatial and vector data across cities in Nigeria to support the organisation’s mapping and geospatial data initiatives.

Survey Field Operations

• Conduct preliminary reconnaissance exercises to assess site conditions and plan field data acquisition activities.
• Execute field surveys and ensure the accurate collection of survey and geospatial data.
• Ensure that field data acquisition activities are completed within approved project budgets and timelines.
• Participate in geospatial data collection trips to various cities across Nigeria.
• Ensure that all survey activities comply with applicable surveying standards, regulations, and departmental procedures.

Data Processing and Deliverables

• Process, analyse, and validate acquired survey data to produce accurate survey plans and other required deliverables.
• Ensure that survey plans and processed data meet client specifications, quality standards, and required formats.
• Maintain accurate records of field measurements, processed data, and project documentation.
• Identify and resolve data inconsistencies or errors to ensure the accuracy and reliability of survey outputs.

Equipment and Resource Management

• Ensure that survey equipment is properly maintained, secured, and accounted for.
• Report faulty equipment and coordinate necessary repairs, servicing, or upgrades.
• Ensure the efficient use of survey equipment and other departmental resources.

Compliance and Reporting

• Comply with all departmental policies, operational procedures, and instructions.
• Provide timely updates on project progress, field activities, and data processing assignments.
• Escalate operational challenges, equipment issues, and project risks to the Manager, Surveying and Mapping.

Performance in this role will be assessed using the following indicators

• Project Delivery: Percentage of survey projects completed within approved timelines.
• Data Accuracy and Quality: Accuracy, completeness, and reliability of acquired and processed survey data.
• Client Satisfaction: Positive client feedback on the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.
• Compliance: Adherence to applicable surveying standards, regulations, and departmental procedures.
• Reporting and Documentation: Timely submission of accurate project reports and documentation.
