Genesis Group is recruiting a Tax Compliance Manager in Port Harcourt to oversee corporate tax reporting, statutory compliance and tax risk.

Role overview

A Tax Compliance Manager oversees an organization’s tax obligations, ensures adherence to federal, state, and local tax laws, and manages internal reporting and external audits.

Key responsibilities

• Tax Filings & Remittances: Prepare, review, and file corporate income tax, VAT, PAYE, withholding tax (WHT), and statutory employee deductions (such as pension and health insurance) on time.
• Audit Management: Lead internal and external tax audits (e.g., FIRS or state revenue service audits), handle formal objection procedures, and provide required documentation to tax authorities.
• Risk & Legislative Monitoring: Conduct tax compliance risk assessments, track changes in tax legislation, and advise leadership on potential regulatory impacts.
• Reconciliations & Reporting: Maintain annual tax calendars, manage general ledger tax balance sheet reconciliations, and prepare periodic status reports for finance leadership.
• Team Leadership: Mentor, supervise, and review the work of tax analysts, accountants, or junior team members.
• Requirements & Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Certifications: Professional qualification or active membership in bodies such as ICAN, CITN, or ACCA.
• Experience: Typically 5 to 6+ years of progressive corporate tax compliance experience, including direct interaction with revenue authorities.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of local/national tax laws, proficiency in ERP systems, tax compliance software, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
