Accountant at a Skincare Retailer via Peopleplusng – Ikota GRA, Lagos

An authorised multi-brand skincare and beauty retailer in Ikota GRA, Lagos, is seeking an Accountant through Peopleplusng to oversee financial records, payment controls, reconciliation and management reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate transaction records and prepare monthly management accounts, profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets and cash-flow statements.
• Reconcile bank accounts, payment gateways, sales receipts, supplier balances and related accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Validate sales, refunds, discounts and expenses against supporting records and authorisations.
• Manage approved supplier payments, reimbursements, receivables and collection follow-ups.
• Monitor cash balances and working-capital needs, prepare forecasts and identify unusual expenditure.
• Support budgeting, financial planning, pricing and purchasing decisions through reliable analysis.
• Improve internal controls and segregation of duties; maintain records for Nigerian tax compliance and independent audits.
• Explain financial results and material variances clearly to management and colleagues.

Qualifications and experience

• HND or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related subject.
• Two to three years’ practical accounting experience with responsibility for financial operations.
• Ability to prepare statements, reports, budgets and reconciliations independently.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Sage, QuickBooks or related ERP software.
• Working knowledge of Nigerian tax requirements and appropriate financial controls.
• Sound judgement, accuracy, confidentiality, analytical skills and clear communication.
• ICAN, ACA or ACCA qualification, or progress towards it, is advantageous.
