Central Control Room Operator at HBM Nigeria Plc – Mfamosing (Akamkpa), Cross River State
HBM Nigeria Plc requires a Central Control Room Operator in Mfamosing, Cross River State, to coordinate a cement-production shift and deliver safe, consistent output while managing cost per tonne.
Production and control duties
- Operate production equipment according to approved procedures and safety requirements, including commissioning, start-up, shutdown and emergency responses.
- Monitor kiln, mill and other process lines for stability, equipment integrity, operating targets and environmental compliance.
- Coordinate plant field personnel, process assistants, patrollers and mobile plant operators.
- Maintain product quality within the Quality Management System and adjust operating conditions following continuous quality monitoring.
- Track production volumes, energy use and other plant performance indicators.
- Report equipment concerns to Maintenance and work with the Automation Engineer on major-equipment problems.
- Lead breakdown troubleshooting and determine operational staffing required for response work.
- Coordinate emergency response during serious production, environmental or safety incidents.
- Maintain operating logs, work-order entries, production reports and reliability records.
- Lead safety meetings, monitor radio communications and support training, induction and performance reviews for production staff.
- Develop and review production standard operating procedures and support environmental management, instrumentation activities and the plant’s Integrated Management System.
Requirements
- Completion of a professional-level Central Control Room Operator certification programme.
- Knowledge of vertical roller mills, kilns, finish mills, product quality parameters, testing and computer-assisted kiln and mill control.
- Sound initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Two to three years’ process-industry experience, or an OND in an engineering discipline with a Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Chemistry or Physics subject, as stated in the role criteria.
- Five to eight years’ experience in the cement industry.
