Data Scientist Lead at Stanbic IBTC Bank – Walter Carrington Crescent, Lagos
Stanbic IBTC Bank is hiring a Data Scientist Lead in Lagos to shape enterprise AI and advanced analytics, oversee machine-learning deployment and ensure strong governance across banking operations.
Data science and AI leadership
- Support the bank’s Data Science and AI strategy and coordinate data scientists and machine-learning developers.
- Partner with business leaders to identify high-value AI applications across products, operations and decisions.
- Direct end-to-end model development, from data sourcing and feature engineering through evaluation, deployment and monitoring.
- Work with Data Engineering on reliable modelling datasets and production-grade ML systems.
- Apply model risk controls, CBN regulations and appropriate global governance standards.
- Investigate emerging AI capabilities, including generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation and agent systems; lead proofs of concept and pilots.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field.
- Six to ten years’ data science, AI or machine-learning experience, including at least three years in a senior technical capacity.
- Proven record of training and deploying production machine-learning models at scale.
- Experience with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure, and contemporary ML tools.
- Banking or financial services experience is strongly preferred; postgraduate study or recognised professional ML/cloud certifications is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, data engineering, integrity, technical stakeholder-management and communication capabilities.
