Mechanical Engineer at Sagar Vitaceuticals Nigeria Limited – Ikeja, Lagos

Sagar Vitaceuticals Nigeria Limited is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer in Ikeja, Lagos, to maintain, troubleshoot and improve mechanical equipment and utilities in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The full-time role supports safe, efficient and cGMP-compliant production.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive, routine and breakdown maintenance on pharmaceutical production and packaging machines, including tablet presses, filling systems, capsule machines, granulators and blister lines.
• Identify and resolve mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults to minimise production downtime.
• Monitor and maintain HVAC, boilers, compressors, RO/WFI water-treatment systems and cold rooms.
• Maintain maintenance logs, equipment performance records, spare-part inventories and calibration schedules.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning and IQ/OQ/PQ validation activities.
• Apply cGMP, WHO-related manufacturing standards, workplace safety and environmental requirements.
• Recommend improvements to equipment efficiency and energy use, and coordinate maintenance with production, quality assurance and electrical teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, B.Eng or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Three to five years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, food-processing or FMCG manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of cGMP, plant utilities, cleanroom requirements, rotating equipment, pumps, valves, pneumatic systems and conveyors.
• Ability to diagnose faults, document work, solve problems and collaborate effectively under production pressure.
• COREN registration or membership of a relevant professional body is an advantage.
