QA/QC Specialist at a Food and Export Company via Proten International – Kano

A food, beverage and export business is recruiting a full-time Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC) Specialist in Kano through Proten International. The specialist will oversee production quality, food safety, regulatory requirements and occupational health, safety and environmental controls.

Quality assurance and food safety

• Carry out product sampling, testing, sensory evaluations and quality inspections during production.
• Maintain compliance with food safety and management standards, including HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, IFS and relevant organic certification requirements.
• Manage quality documentation, traceability records, internal audits and preparation for external assessments.
• Identify biological, physical and chemical hazards and implement suitable quality-control measures.
• Investigate product deviations and introduce corrective and preventive actions.

Health, safety and environmental responsibilities

• Develop and maintain QHSE policies, procedures and workplace safety initiatives.
• Conduct inspections, risk assessments and reviews of PPE usage and safety practices.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses and track appropriate corrective actions.
• Deliver staff training, toolbox talks and awareness programmes covering food safety and workplace safety.
• Coordinate with external laboratories, researchers, regulators and government representatives.
• Maintain accurate audit, inspection, incident, training and improvement records.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Quality Engineering, Food Science or Technology, Food Chemistry, Microbiology or a related discipline.
• At least four years’ relevant experience, preferably including supervisory or management responsibility.
• Experience in food and beverages, export, herbs or spices is mandatory; hibiscus export experience is an advantage.
• Relevant professional qualification in QA/QC, process improvement or food safety, such as TQM, Six Sigma, Lean, HACCP, ISO 22000, IASSC or ASQ.
• Knowledge of food defence, QMS, QHSE, NEBOSH, ISPON Level 3, hygiene practices, audit readiness and traceability.
• CSP, OSHA 30-Hour, IOSH, ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 certifications are highly preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of food-safety regulations, internal auditing and HSE compliance.
• Fluency in Hausa and English. A master’s degree is an advantage.

Salary

₦250,000–₦300,000 per month.
