Senior Microbiologist at Sagar Vitaceuticals Nigeria Limited – Ikeja, Lagos

Sagar Vitaceuticals Nigeria Limited is recruiting a Senior Microbiologist to lead microbiology testing within its Quality Control department in Ikeja, Lagos. The role helps ensure pharmaceutical materials, manufacturing environments, water systems and finished products meet microbiological and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sterility, microbial-limit, bioburden and antimicrobial-effectiveness testing of relevant samples.
• Oversee environmental monitoring in cleanrooms, production spaces and other manufacturing areas, including air, surface and personnel sampling.
• Test and monitor purified water and water-for-injection systems against applicable pharmacopoeial specifications.
• Supervise culture-media preparation, microbial cultures and laboratory equipment and reagent qualification.
• Investigate out-of-specification and out-of-trend results, identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare the laboratory for NAFDAC and other regulatory inspections and internal or external audits.
• Write and review laboratory standard operating procedures and train, mentor and supervise QC analysts and junior microbiologists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology or a closely related biological science.
• Four to seven years’ experience in a microbiological laboratory in regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing or a healthcare-products environment.
• Sound knowledge of USP, BP and European Pharmacopoeia microbiology standards, cGMP and NAFDAC regulatory requirements.
• Practical expertise in environmental monitoring, sterility testing and pharmaceutical water-system validation.
• Strong analytical reasoning, technical reporting, investigation, problem-solving and leadership skills.
