Shift Engineer, Power Plant at Dangote Industries Limited – Ibese, Ogun

Dangote Industries Limited is recruiting a Shift Engineer for the power plant at Ibese, Ogun State, to supervise operations and ensure efficient running of assigned power-plant systems.

Job summary

Supervise shift operations in an assigned area of the power plant and coordinate plant control, operational records, startup, shutdown and emergency responses.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Supervise shift operations in the assigned area and monitor equipment operating parameters.
• Record operating parameters and maintain accurate operational records for the area.
• Manage emergencies in the assigned area, including assisting the shift manager with incident response.
• Independently operate the power-plant control room and distributed control system (DCS).
• Manage startup and shutdown of process and service units without disrupting units that must remain online.
• Minimise stoppages and trips caused by operator error and ensure orderly operation of balance-of-plant systems.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the assigned area.
• Prepare standard operating procedures covering system descriptions, operating logic, interlocks and work processes; use them for in-house training.
• Update maintenance histories and activity records, and input important control-room parameters for analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a power option, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• At least five years’ relevant experience in a gas-based power plant, including at least two years in a control room.

• Clear oral and written communication, teamwork and professional networking skills.
• Problem-solving skills, creativity and resourcefulness.
• Proficiency with office productivity software and SAP production reporting.
• Knowledge of applicable ISO standards.
