AC Technician at Protea Hotel Lagos Kuramo Waters – Lagos

Protea Hotel Lagos Kuramo Waters is recruiting a full-time AC Technician in Lagos to maintain air-conditioning and refrigeration systems throughout its hotel facilities. The position focuses on reliable cooling, preventive maintenance, safe repairs and prompt responses to faults affecting guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair air-conditioning units, refrigeration systems and related equipment.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on split units, packaged systems, chillers and other cooling equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, check refrigerant levels, identify leaks and perform necessary servicing.
• Clean filters, condenser and evaporator coils, drains and other system components.
• Respond promptly to cooling complaints and breakdowns in guest rooms, offices, kitchens, meeting spaces and other hotel areas.
• Inspect equipment regularly, document repairs, spare parts and equipment condition, and recommend actions to improve reliability and energy efficiency.
• Maintain servicing tools and materials and escalate major or recurring faults to the Chief Engineer or Maintenance Manager.
• Follow hotel safety procedures, electrical isolation requirements, environmental regulations and safe refrigerant-handling practices.
• Keep work areas orderly and complete assigned maintenance work within required timeframes.

Qualifications and experience

• Technical or trade-test certificate, or another relevant qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least two years of relevant experience as an AC Technician; previous hotel experience is an advantage.
• Practical knowledge of commercial air-conditioning systems, refrigeration principles, preventive maintenance and fault diagnosis.
• Ability to use servicing tools and testing equipment safely.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, time management, reporting and communication.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, respond to maintenance emergencies and work shifts, weekends or public holidays when required.

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow electrical safety and equipment-isolation procedures.
• Handle refrigerants responsibly and report workplace hazards, unsafe conditions and damaged equipment.
• Complete maintenance work professionally and efficiently, minimising repeat faults and disruption to hotel operations.
