Director of Investment at an Undisclosed Company via Santus Consulting – Abuja
A permanent capital institution is recruiting a Director of Investment in Abuja through Santus Consulting. This founding leadership role will establish an investment desk, originate and develop companies, deploy capital and oversee governance and portfolio value creation.
Key responsibilities
- Set investment strategy and build a pipeline of viable companies and opportunities within the assigned sector.
- Originate opportunities, assess their commercial viability and determine which investments to pursue or decline.
- Prepare investment cases for the Investment Committee and make decisions on capital allocation within the approved mandate.
- Confirm that investment conditions are met before capital is released and enforce governance restrictions.
- Recruit chief executives, develop executive role specifications and constitute boards for portfolio companies.
- Set strategic mandates for portfolio companies and oversee executives and boards without assuming their day-to-day responsibilities.
- Develop relationships with regulators, financiers, development finance institutions and sector partners.
- Deliver agreed performance targets, strengthen portfolio governance and maintain accountability for results.
Requirements
- Experience building an asset or company from origination into operation, with personal accountability for outcomes.
- Direct capital allocation authority and evidence of sound investment judgement.
- Experience appointing chief executives, forming boards and working in formal governance structures.
- Established relationships in the relevant investment sector.
- Ability to assess investment opportunities, build viable companies and communicate why some proposals should be declined.
- Strong writing, documentation, decision-making and relationship-management skills, with openness to feedback.
Salary
₦1,500,000–₦2,500,000 per month.
