Operations Executive – Freight Forwarding at Ascentech Services Limited – Port Harcourt

Ascentech Services Limited is recruiting a full-time Operations Executive – Freight Forwarding in Port Harcourt to coordinate import and export shipments.

The role

Working in the Operations department, the executive coordinates sea, air and land shipments with attention to delivery times, costs, documentation and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange freight bookings, cargo movement, tracking and final delivery, including collection, transport and warehousing.
• Prepare shipping documents and coordinate customs clearance with shipping lines, airlines, customs agents, haulage providers and clients.
• Obtain freight quotations, monitor shipment costs and resolve delays while keeping clients informed of progress.
• Maintain shipment records and operational reports, and comply with customs, port, safety and security requirements.

Performance measures

• Timely deliveries, customs-clearance turnaround and accurate documentation.
• Shipment costs against budgets and avoidable demurrage or detention charges.
• Customer satisfaction, complaint resolution and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and skills

• BSc or HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management or a related field.
• Four to six years of relevant freight-forwarding or logistics experience.
• Knowledge of Nigerian customs procedures, port operations and shipping documentation, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Relevant professional certification is an advantage.
• Strong planning, shipment coordination, negotiation, cost control, communication, customer service, problem-solving and time-management skills, with accurate documentation.
