Patient Care Assistant at St. Ives Specialist Hospital – Ikeja, Lagos State

St. Ives Specialist Hospital is recruiting a Patient Care Assistant in Ikeja, Lagos, to support nurses and help patients remain safe, comfortable and well cared for.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting and mobility.
• Record vital signs under nursing direction and promptly report changes in patients’ conditions.
• Respond to patient requests and support admissions, transfers, discharge and internal patient transport.
• Prepare clean patient areas, replenish supplies and disinfect equipment according to hospital procedures.
• Assist nursing staff during routine examinations, patient care and specimen transport.
• Observe confidentiality, patient dignity, infection control and safety standards.
• Maintain assigned records and communicate professionally with patients, relatives and colleagues.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).
• Healthcare Assistant, Nursing Assistant or caregiving certification is an advantage.
• Hospital experience, auxiliary nursing experience and Basic Life Support certification are desirable.
• Empathy, discretion, observation, communication and teamwork.
• Basic infection prevention knowledge, good time management and physical ability to assist with patient care.
