Senior Relationship Manager at Standard Chartered Bank – Lagos

Standard Chartered Bank is recruiting a permanent, office-based Senior Relationship Manager in Lagos (requisition 64933, global grade Band 9). The role focuses on acquiring and developing trade-oriented SME banking relationships, growing deposits and delivering relevant trade finance solutions.

Responsibilities

• Acquire new SME customers and manage trade-focused relationships with businesses within the stated turnover segments.
• Grow low-cost deposits and trade finance business through structured prospecting, relationship management and cross-selling.
• Promote letters of credit, bills for collection, guarantees, import/export finance and other trade solutions.
• Engage prospects from buyer and supplier networks, alliances and target-sector leads.
• Understand clients’ business cycles, payment and deposit needs and recommend suitable SME banking services.
• Encourage customers’ use of digital and remote banking channels, including online, POS and ATMs.
• Collaborate with Trade Operations, Treasury, product and other internal teams for effective delivery and transaction processing.
• Maintain structured client-contact plans, meeting records, weekly reports and relationship management information.
• Share market and client feedback with senior management to support planning and service improvements.
• Develop banking business among trade, maritime, oil and gas, IT, NGO, healthcare, education and other commercial clients.

Qualifications and experience

• Good first degree or equivalent technical skills developed through recognised professional associations and practical experience.
• At least eight years of post-graduation banking experience.
• Deep knowledge of trade finance instruments, global trade regulations, SME products and industry lending.
• Strong business development, deposit mobilisation, relationship management, credit and risk assessment skills.
• Industry knowledge and regulatory compliance awareness.
