Technical Superintendent at Onstream Group – Lagos

Onstream Group is recruiting a Technical Superintendent in Lagos to oversee the technical performance of its assigned offshore support vessels (OSVs). The role covers fleet maintenance, vessel safety and reliability, capital and operating budgets, and the technical integration and handover of vessels.

Vessel technical management

• Apply the company’s safety policy and QHSE procedures across assigned vessels, working with onboard teams.
• Manage vessel operating and capital expenditure and optimise technical availability, maintenance quality and reliability.
• Oversee several vessels in a cost-conscious manner, including scheduled and unplanned repairs.
• Review purchasing requisitions and orders for spares, technical services and supplies.
• Liaise with classification societies on annual surveys, class status, certificates and other vessel requirements.
• Maintain reliable vessel-to-shore records in the Task Assistant system and computerised maintenance management systems.
• Prepare, negotiate and supervise repair arrangements in line with class and safety requirements.
• Oversee technical inspections, Vessel Technical Inspections (VTI), electrical surveys and preparations for dry docking.

Reporting and fleet coordination

• Document equipment failures and maintenance activities, including UPMP, PMP and UJ reporting, for relevant vessel and contract managers.
• Manage new-vessel entry, vessel transfers and technical handovers between ship managers.
• Supervise Chief Engineers, support annual performance reviews and contribute to competency and career development.
• Visit assigned vessels onshore and offshore as required, and promote continuous technical improvement.
• Arrange routine lubricating-oil analysis under applicable maintenance procedures and communicate the results.
• Ensure monthly CCTV footage reviews to support safety, security and equipment functionality.

Qualifications

• Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency and/or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a similar qualification.
• Valid Seaman’s Book or relevant professional certificates and a valid international passport.

Technical skills and experience

• Working knowledge of MAK and Cummins engines.
• Familiarity with jet-system arrangements for FSIV and azimuth systems.
• Understanding of dynamic positioning systems and their maintenance.
• Basic electrical and electronics knowledge and ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Good understanding of enterprise resource planning and plant maintenance systems.
