Accountant (Restaurant & Retail Operations) at The Borough Lagos – Lekki Phase 1, Lagos

The Borough Lagos is recruiting an Accountant for its restaurant and retail operations in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. The role oversees financial reporting, daily sales reconciliation, cash controls, payroll and inventory accounting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
• Reconcile POS, cash, card and transfer transactions against daily sales records.
• Monitor restaurant and retail revenue, inventory, cost of goods sold, wastage and variances.
• Conduct internal audits covering cash handling, stock and operational processes.
• Support stock counts and accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
• Process payroll and statutory deductions, including PAYE and pension contributions.
• Manage supplier invoices, account reconciliations and payments.
• Support budgets, forecasts, cost controls, compliance and improvement of operating profitability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• At least two to three years of accounting experience in a restaurant, supermarket or retail business.
• Strong practical knowledge of POS reconciliation, inventory accounting, cash-driven operations and cost control.
• Competence in Excel, accounting software, analytical work and financial reporting.
• Integrity and close attention to detail.
• ICAN qualification, work towards ICAN or other relevant certification is advantageous.

Important eligibility requirement

Hands-on restaurant or retail accounting experience is required; candidates without relevant industry exposure may not be considered.
