Cyber Security Analyst at Athena Institute of Business and Technology – Remote

Athena Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT) is recruiting a full-time, remote Cyber Security Analyst to protect digital systems, information assets, networks and applications against cyber threats.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and logs across networks, endpoints, applications and cloud environments.
• Investigate suspected incidents and cyber threats, analyse impact, document findings and support containment and remediation.
• Operate SIEM and security-monitoring tools, review threat intelligence and indicators of compromise.
• Support vulnerability assessments, patch monitoring, endpoint security, identity and access management, and security configuration reviews.
• Participate in incident response, evidence handling, phishing investigations and post-incident reviews.
• Prepare technical reports, maintain security procedures and work with IT, development and distributed security teams.
• Support security assessments, compliance and staff awareness initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field; equivalent practical experience and training may be considered.
• Two to four years’ experience in security operations, threat monitoring, vulnerability management or related IT security roles.
• Hands-on knowledge of SIEM, EDR and vulnerability tools, security logs and incident response.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, firewalls, Windows, Linux, identity controls and common attack methods.
• Familiarity with security frameworks including NIST, ISO/IEC 27001 and CIS Controls.
• Strong analytical, reporting, documentation and remote collaboration skills.
• Cloud security, threat hunting, scripting, SOC experience or certifications including Security+, CySA+ or SSCP are advantages.
