Internal Auditor at WATU – Lagos
WATU is recruiting a full-time Internal Auditor in Lagos to assess governance, risk management, financial controls and regulatory compliance. The role reports to the Head of Internal Audit & Risk.
Audit and risk responsibilities
- Execute a risk-based annual audit plan, prepare audit programmes and carry out controls testing.
- Evaluate financial transactions, lending processes, records and operational compliance with laws, CBN directives and company procedures.
- Identify control deficiencies, fraud indicators, regulatory breaches and opportunities for efficiencies.
- Document findings, prepare management and Audit Committee reports and follow up corrective actions.
- Conduct special audits or investigations when directed and maintain objectivity and confidentiality.
- Coordinate workplace occupational health and safety audits, ESG reviews and external IT audits.
- Support enterprise risk management and coordination with relevant regulators and partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and at least four years’ experience in audit, finance, credit or similar areas.
- CPA Part II qualification; CIA certification is advantageous.
- Strong familiarity with audit standards, internal controls, risk management and financial reporting.
- Excellent analysis, report writing, independent judgement, ethical practice and professional communication.
